To add a Practice Area, head over to the Control Panel, under the Data Types section, click on the Manage Practice Areas.
Once you are in the Practice Area, click on the Add Practice Area button.
The following dialogue will then appear.
From here you can enter the following information:
1. Display Name
Here you can add the name of the new practice area.
2. Number
This can be used for various uses, such as mapping the field to your accounting system. You can add a custom number (alphanumeric) for the practice area. Or you can simply click on the wand-icon and the system will designate the next available number to the practice area.
3. Price List
Here is where you can select a Price List to apply for the practice area.
4. Description
Here you can add a description of what the practice area is for.
5. Available to all Business Units
This is ticked by default, where the newly created practice area will be available in all business units in your firm.
If you want the practice to be only available in certain business units, untick this selection and a new field will appear.
Here is where you would add the business units you want to have the practice area be available in.
6. Inherit in Child Business Units
This is unticked by default and is only visible if you untick Available in all Business Units. Ticking this will make the practice area available in every child business unit you selected previously- this is used so you do not need to explicitly select every business unit.
7. Require 'know your client' to be performed before starting a case
This is unticked by default. Tick this if you wish to have 'Know your client' results to be performed every x months. If a client has not had a 'Know your client' result check in x-months, and this practice area is selected, the system will inform you that this needs to be performed before the case can be accepted.
8. Require new check to be performed every x month
Here is where you would setup how many months a 'Know your client' result must be performed when this specific practice area is selected. By default, 0 will be inputted meaning it needs to be performed once and never again.
After filling in the required information, click on the Create button and you are done.
