You can create a case directly in LEX247 or a case request that requires additional actions to be completed before it can be accepted or declined by Users.
The Create Case button can be found in the following Cards, where the functionality is identical:
- Main Card
- Client Card
- User Card
In this article, we will create a new case or a case request on the Main Card.
Click the Create Case button.
The following dialog will appear.
Fill in the necessary information as follows:
1. Case Name
This field is mandatory for both case request and case creation.
Here is where you can name the new case.
2. Confidential
Here is where you can enable confidentiality for the new case.

3. Add Notes...
Here is where you can add a case note or mention other Users.

4. Add Background...
Here is where you can add a case background for the new case.

5. Business Unit
Here is where you can select a business unit for the new case.
6. Billing Unit
Here is where you can select a billing unit for the new case.
7. Practice Area
This field is mandatory for both case request and case creation.
Here is where you can select a practice area for the new case.
8. Case Tags
Here is where you can add a case tag to display information or use the case tag to create a bankruptcy case.

9. Clients
This field is mandatory for case creation.
Here is where you can create new client(s) or select existing single or multiple clients for the case.
Please note that after creating a case, only a User with 'Administrator'-rights can directly create a new client on the Case Card, Participants-view.
10. Opponents
Here is where you can create new opponent(s) or select existing single or multiple opponents for the case that is being created.
Please note after creating a case, only a User with 'Administrator'-rights can directly create a new opponent on the Case Card, Participants-view.
11. Case Managers
This field is mandatory for both case request and case creation.
Here is where you can select the case manager(s) for the new case that is being created. However, if you have selected an existing client, the system will automatically add the client manager as a case manager.

12. Participants
Here is where you can select the case participant(s) for the new case.
Select the "Add all remaining lawyers in Business Unit" option to include all remaining lawyers in the Business Unit.
13. Conflict of Interest
This field is mandatory for case creation.
Before you can directly create a case, you must first perform a conflict of interest check.
After filling in the required information, the dialog will look as below.
Click on the Create Case button to directly create a case.
Or click on the Create Case Request button to create a case request and you are done.
