You can credit an invoice on the Invoices-view of the following Cards, where the functionality is identical:
- Main Card
- Case Card
- Client Card
- Payer Card
In this article, we will credit an invoice on the Main Card.
Head over to the Main Card, Invoices-view, under the Finalized section.
You can search for the invoices you want by scrolling through the list of invoices or filtering them.

Click the 'Three Dots'-icon.
The following drop-down dialog will appear, click the Credit button.
Select the following options before finalizing the invoice.
- Issued Date
Here is where you can specify the date for issuing the credit note. The default setting is the current date.
- Reason for Issue
This field is for informational purposes only.
Here is where you can enter text to provide an explanation for the issuance of the credit note.
- Invoice has already received funds, X
This field is for informational purposes and is only available for a paid invoice.
This is where the total amount of the credited invoice is displayed.
- Which account would you like to deposit the funds to?
This field is only available for a paid invoice.
- Operating Account
This field is for informational purposes only and is not managed within LEX.
Select here if the credit amount is to be directly deposited into the Client's bank account. - Payer Trust Account
Select here if the credit amount is to be deposited into the Client's trust fund account. This amount will be displayed on the Client Card, Details-view, under the Trust Account section. - Reference Number
This field is for informational purposes only.
Here is where you can enter the reference number for the credit note being issued.
- Operating Account
- Action for the contents of the Invoice
- Return to state Approved
Select here if you want all assets within the invoice to return to the Approved state after crediting.
- Mark as not billable
Select here if you want all assets within the invoice to be marked as not billable after crediting.
- Put on new draft invoice
Select here if all assets within the invoice to be directly included in the new draft invoice.
- Open newly created draft invoice
Select here if you want the newly created draft invoice to be automatically opened immediately after crediting.
- Open newly created draft invoice
- Return to state Approved
Click the Credit button and you are done.
Notes:
1. Ensure that you are a Case Manager, a Client Manager, a User with 'Invoice Approval Responsible'-role, or a User with 'Accounting'-rights set up to be able to access Invoices-view.
2. If the Invoice is part of a shared invoice, you will not be able to choose the first option; the dialog will require you to create a new draft invoice.
